DIY Baby Blocks

I love being creative and crafty so I wanted to make something for the girls.  I had some empty space on a shelf in the nursery and I wanted something with their initials... hence... cute Baby Blocks to match the nursery décor.  I love the way they turned out and maybe some day the girls can play with them as well.

To begin, I chose paper that matched the nursery.  Also, it was leftover from the cute Circle Mobiles I made for my triplets as well.

Next, I bought 4 inch blocks (these can be whatever size) at the craft store.  I measured a quarter inch less in every direction and used a paper cutter to cut 3.5 inch squares out of my paper.  I made 3 blocks so I cut 3 in the 6 colors I chose.

I then used a stencil to cut out my letters for the sides of the blocks.

I then chose to paint my blocks.  I used the same paint that was used in the nursery.  You can also choose to stain the blocks which gives it a cool look.

Next... my favorite part.  Mod Podge time.  I chose where I wanted each color square and mod podged away.  You have to let dry sometimes between each side so it doesn't stick to the surface its sitting on.  Sometimes it would only take like 20 minutes to dry so I was able to leave the project out and complete it all in one day (all while caring for triplets :).  Once the squares were on and dry then I did another layer of mod podge to adhere the letters.  Plus, an extra coat of mod podge is always good.

The final product!  I'm so pleased with them and they look adorable in their nursery.  (I'll be doing a triplets nursery blog post eventually, just have a few more finishing touches before its complete)

I have no idea how I found your blog, but I was excited when I did! I just had triplets as well and I feel like part of our journey was very similar. We have lots in common :) I laughed when I saw the pic of you holding two and rocking one in the bouncer...I have the same picture!!
